We are now accepting registration for the 2012 hunt!
UPDATE: Registration reached capacity on Sept. 11, but you can still sign up for the waiting list - see above.
Registration is now open for the 2012 Novice Women's Duck Hunt!
Here are the key details:
> It's Friday Nov. 9 through Sunday Nov. 11.
> The first night and the whole second day will be at Red Bank Outfitters in Red Bluff, just like last year. That's where we'll do shooting instruction, as well as workshops on duck calling, duck identification, duck cleaning and duck cooking.
> The duck hunts on Sunday the 11th will be at private clubs in the Butte Sink, which has legendary hunting. And new this year: We're adding a pheasant hunt on Sunday afternoon - two birds per hunter!
> The cost is $260 per hunter. This is strictly to cover food and lodging - everything else is still being provided by volunteers, from the workshops to the duck hunts.
> The cap is 15 hunters, so if you want to go, sign up soon to guarantee your seat. Even if it fills up, though, you should register so we can put you on a waiting list in case anyone cancels, or in case we get an opportunity to add more seats in duck blinds.
Click here for the tentative schedule, and here to register. Click here if you're not licensed yet and want to take advantage of a terrific opportunity in September to get licensed. And click here to see a slideshow of last year's hunt.
Also, stay tuned here as we continue developing plans. Co-organizer Judy Oswald and I have a lot of cool stuff in the works. You can sign up for email updates using the subscription feature in the upper right-hand corner of this website.
Finally, if you have any questions that aren't answered here or elsewhere on this site, please feel free to email me or Judy.
See you soon!

Ladies, looking to get your California hunting license?
California Waterfowl is offering a fantastic deal in September to help women pass their hunter education course, get some shooting instruction, get licensed and go on a hunt, all in one weekend.
The Women's Pheasant Hunt Weekend is held Saturday and Sunday Sept. 22-23 at Birds Landing Hunting Preserve and Sporting Clays. It costs $200, which is a great deal (and if you're not convinced, call around to get prices on hunter ed courses, shooting instruction and a pheasant hunts).
This is an excellent opportunity for women who are interested in joining the NorCal Women's Duck Hunt in November, but don't yet have their licenses.
If you can't make that weekend event but still need to get licensed, check out the Department of Fish & Game's hunter education website for a list of upcoming hunter ed classes near you.
